Corey Davis and Elijah Moore Jets Receivers

Zach Wilson and Elijah Moore

I am excited about Zach Wilson but I am equally excited about Elijah Moore. If this duo works out the Jets can have two potent offensive weapons for a long time. According to what I have been reading Elijah Moore has the goods. He already has the respect of his team mates. That  is hard to do that early in training camp.

Is height a problem for Moore?

He has good speed, running the 40 yard dash in 4.35 seconds on his pro day.  He also runs great routes and his hands are like glue. Can you ask more of a wide receiver. It appears the Jets may have gotten it right with this draft pick. It appears he is the type of receiver that can turn what might have been a bad pass into a great catch.

There are some concerns regarding his statistics from the pro day. According to nflcombineresults.com his height is 69.5 inches. That is just shy of 5’ 8 inches. Depending on where you look he is reported to be either 5’9 or 5’10. This still puts him in the short category for wide receivers whose average height today is just shy of 6’1 inch. So we will have to wait and see. If he can separate himself from defenders with speed the height shouldn’t be as important.

Great pick up in Corey Davis.

The acquisition of Corey Davis from the Titans is significant for the Jets. Zach will have an established wide receiver to throw to in Corey Davis. Corey Davis is 6’ 3 inches.  Last year with the Titans he caught 65 passes for 984 yards. This was an average of 15.1 yards per catch. It appears the Jets could have 2 legitimate wide receivers. They haven’t had that in a while.

In my opinion Joe Douglas is doing a good job of drafting and signing free agents. Hopefully the players will play as well as expected as Joe can not do that for them.
