Saturday August 14th 7:30 PM
I don’t know about you, but this Jet fan can’t wait until next Saturday night August 14th at 7:30 PM. We get to see Zach Wilson and Elijah Moore and the rest of the Jets go to work. I can’t believe that it will be against the New York Giants. I know that pre-season is not supposed to count but hey it is the cross-town rivals. I am sure Saleh won’t be saying this to the press, but I would be willing to give odds that he wants this win really bad.
I for one am very interested in the Jet running game. According to what I have been reading the Jets are working a lot on that part of their game. It would be great to see the Jets able to establish a running game early in every game. That gives the offensive coordinator so many more options in his game calling. A well-balanced running and passing attack have evaded the Jets in recent seasons.
Zach Wilson on Day 1
The big question is can Zach Wilson get on the field day one and lead the Jet offense. There have only been 12 rookie quarterbacks to make it to a playoff game. These were not quarterbacks that were replacing a starter due to injury but drafted in their rookie year. Believe it or not but Mark Sanchez was one of them. Dan Marino was one also. Russell Wilson and Ben Rothlesberger also made the playoffs as rookies. They were both 1-1.
Mark Sanchez actually did better than Marino. Marino was 0-1 and never got back there again. I don’t think anyone in the sports world at the time thought that would happen. Mark Sanchez was 2-1. We are looking for better than that. The problem is that no rookie quarterback has ever made it to the Super Bowl.
