This Sunday’s game between the Jets and Dolphins should prove to be a very good game. The teams are evenly matched if you look at the stats. I think this could come down to who ever makes less mistakes with fewer penalties, particularly in third down situations.
The Jets have only managed to score 18.8 points per game, which puts them 28th in the league. Miami, a little better is ranked 21st with 20.9 points per game. Total yards Miami (349.8 per game Rank 18) Jets (340.8 per game Rank 22). Passing yards Miami (229.6 per game Rank 24) Jets (230.6 per game Rank23) Rushing yards Miami (120 per game Rank 7) Jets (110.1 per game Rank 15)
So as you can see they are pretty evenly matched.
The winner of the game will depend on several things. One is the tandem of Forte/Powell vs. Miami’s Jay Ajayi. I expect to see the Jets use Powell a little more this week as well as use Forte in some option plays that allow him to be a bigger part of the passing game.
Ryan Fitzpatrick needs to continue make good decisions when it comes to throwing the ball. His tenure as the Jet starting quarterback will probably last as long as they are still in playoff contention. Once they are not Ryan Fitzpatrick’s career as a Jet starter is over. They will have to take a look at Bryce Petty.
So the Jets need a big special teams play, they need to stop the run, rush the quarterback creating hurries and 2 sacks and Ryan Fitzpatrick needs to look like a 12 million dollar QB.
