Joe Douglas GM New York Jets

Before coming to the Jets Joe Douglas spent time with The Ravens, Eagles and the Bears. Joe Douglas, according to most pendant’s had a good draft in 2020. That being his first draft as GM for the Jets. He needs to continue by acquiring good free agents to fill some holes in combination with a good draft in 2021.

Douglas addressed the Jets need for an offensive lineman by selecting Mekhi Becton. He was available to the Jets at #11 in the first round due to his flagged drug test in the NFL combine. The Jets have not addressed their needs in the front line since the 2006 Draft, when they selected D’Brickashaw and Nick Mangold.

Mekhi Becton Was A Great Pick

It does appear that Mekhi Becton, an enormous man, is the real deal. At the age of 21, he opted out of his senior year at Louisville to enter the 2020 NFL draft.

Denzel Mims shows promise as a wide receiver. He was ranked #8 among all rookie receivers according to PFF. Bryce Hall ranks #3 of all rookie cornerbacks. He continued to look better all season. In my opinion Branden Mann rounds out the top 4 picks of the 2020 draft for the Jets. He can punt but he can also tackle. He saved 3 touchdowns last season. It appears that La’Mical Perine showed the Jets enough for them not to make running back a priority in free agency.

Sam Darnold Is A Question Mark

Obviously, the big question is Sam Darnold. Will Joe look to close the book on Darnold and get the best available QB with their first pick. Douglas is in a tough spot here. If he stays with Darnold and he doesn’t improve, Douglas will get the blame for not going after a QB in the draft. If he let’s Darnold go and he lights it up with his new team, Douglas looks bad. Especially if the QB he picks in the draft doesn’t hit the ground running.

My guess is the Jets will move on from Darnold.
Good Luck Joe, you might need it.
