If you are a Jet fan things are looking up for the first time in many years. The Johnson family must be getting some advice from knowledgeable football minds for the first time since they owned the franchise. I was previously under the impression that the Jet’s would never see another Superbowl until they sold the team. I know am beginning to think there is hope.
In my opinion, the winning of a Superbowl starts with the head coach. I like the choice of Joe Saleh as the 2oth head coach of the Jets. Joe played for 4 years at Eastern Michigan, He went to the Chicago Bears training camp, but a knee injury caused him to stop playing football.
Pete Carrol
Among his resume are his time spent with two good head coaches. He spent 3 years under Pete Carrol as a defensive quality coach. He has stated that he learned a great deal from Pete Carrol. “The biggest influence I took from Coach Carroll is from a philosophy standpoint,” he said in an Associated Press story. “Understanding who you are as a person, what’s important to you as a person, and how to apply it to the message you’re trying to deliver. Understanding that everybody has a style and that every style is the right style, provided you apply it the right way.
“Speaking to people, handling people is where I’ve had my greatest growth from Coach Carroll.”
Kyle Shanahan
Kyle Shanahan, who hired Joe to be his defensive coordinator in 2017, has nothing but praise for him. “I don’t know what’s wrong with people if they don’t hire him,” Shanahan said. “He’s as good as you can get, knows more about football, all three phases, and he’s going to hire the best staff, he knows about players, he knows what they’re talking about, who doesn’t know what they’re talking about. He also knows how to deal with people. I hope everyone’s not very smart and doesn’t hire him so I can keep him, but I’m expecting not to have him.”
Joe is also a very good chess player. Let’s hope that will help him outmaneuver his opposing coaches in the game of football!
