The New York Yankees Keep Winning

The Yankees are a very exciting team to watch right now. It has been a while since I have enjoyed watching the Yankees as much as I like to watch them right now. I guess I would have to go back to the team that Paul O’Neil played on. Just like the Yankees right now, you could never count them out.

They have a great combination of veteran players and some fantastic rookies playing great baseball and adding a lot of excitement for the viewer. The Yankees were 42-41 on July 6,2021. One game over 500. Since that day they are 34-11. They have a 13 game winning streak going into tonight’s game. They now have a 76-52, in the top spot for a wildcard spot in the American League.

In a post about a month ago I said the only way the Yankees would make the playoffs was a  wildcard spot. That still stands as Tampa Bay (80-48) , although not as hot as the Yankees  keep on winning also. The top two Wild Card teams from each league make the postseason. They play each other in a one-game playoff with the winner moving on to the playoffs.

This is all happening without Gallo hitting like he is expected to. The Yankees are not know for trading off their better minor league players, especially pitchers which they did to acquire Joey Gallo. Hopefully the 3 run homer by Gallo last Thursday will be the start of his performing in pinstripes.

The Yankees have a 19-4 record since the beginning of August. That amounts to an .826 winning percentage. They also have a 13 game winning streak going into the game with Oakland today at 4:07 PM. That ties two other times, Sept. 1-12, 1961 and July 3-18, 1954. If they can win tonight they will tie the 14 game win streak, June 29 to July 13, 1941.

As you can see from the image below (Credit The Yes APP) the Yankees are now sporting the 5th best record in baseball. All the pieces are coming together right now, The hitting, fielding, starting pitching and the bull pen.

The question is how long they can all the aspects of their game continue to perform like this.Personally I hope right through to winning the world series.
