But alas, here we are with this Yankee team. Sure on paper they should be something. On the field they just don’t cut it.

The Yankee haters wish for the Yankees to have a bad season every year. The problem is this year they may get their wishes. In my opinion the best hope a Yankee fan can have this year is to reach the playoffs through the wild card. I don’t think they have the cohesiveness to win the division. They can’t beat the Red Sox or Tampa so even if they get a wildcard they won’t go to far.

This is not a small ball lineup.

This Yankee team isn’t going to win games playing small ball. They win on home runs.

They have been plagued injuries and most recently by covid quarantine protocol. Any of the players currently injured can get another injury at any point in the season. Two of their best sluggers have been injury prone for a couple of years now. Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and most recently Luke Voit, who was last years shortened season home run champ.

It just seems to me that this team just doesn’t have the heart of a winner. When I saw Cole in the ninth inning against Houston before the All Star break I said now that is the Yankees. It reminded me of the movie with Kevin Costner, Field of Dreams. You could tell Cole was reaching down deep for every pitch. Then if you a Yankee fan you know what happened the next game.

It is against my better judgement to say the Yankees won’t make the playoffs, but if they do it will be via wild card.

PS: I hope I am wrong. I am a true blue Yankee fan.
