Training camp is only 16 days away!

The Jets have made some major changes.

Joe Douglas is using a three tier approach to building the Jets into a team that is competitive in the NFL. Notice I didn’t say Super Bowl contender. Let’s get back to playing decent football as a first goal. I think Douglas is on the right track. He is building through the draft, free agency and keeping selected former team members. In addition he selected Robert Saleh as the head coach. The guy just looks like a head coach.

The offensive line should be much improved.

The jets have done some major things for this season. They are shoring up the offensive line with the signing of  Morgan Moses. Morgan Moses had 96 consecutive starts for the Washington Football Team. He should beat out George Fant for the starting right tackle spot.

The defense should be able to put pressure on quarterbacks this season.

They signed Carl Lawson, former pass rusher for Cincinnati Bengals. He only had 5 sacks last season but he also had 64 pressures which ranked him 4th in the league among all edge rushers. Hopefully he can turn some of those pressures into sacks at a price of $45 million with $30 million guaranteed. New York fads are very demanding, which he will find out quickly.

Although the Saints wanted Justin Hardee back they lost out to an aggressive Jets bid. He is listed as a CB/Special Teams. His more significant role will be on special teams. A good signing for the Jets.

Joe Douglas was able to get veteran defensive end Vince Curry from Philadelphia. Although he is no spring chicken at 33 years old, he will be competing for a starter at Defensive End.

The Jets have struggled with the TE position for quite a few years now. The addition of Tyler Kroft TE could help them at that position. His strong suit is as a blocking TE. The Jets are hoping to have him be a weapon as a receiver.
