Same Old Same Old

I was really hoping that things would be different with the Jets this year. It appears that it is same old, same old.

In my opinion the Jets will not get t.o another Super Bowl until the Johnson’s sell the team. Zach Wilson, the number 2 pick in the draft is rumored to be in California. That is a long way from Florham Park, NJ.

Mike White Under Center

So on the first day of training camp number 5, Mike White, not number 2, Zach Wilson is under center. Zach Wilson needs to be at training camp now. He is a rookie and is backed up by two quarterbacks that have never taken a snap in the NFL. Oh, by the way, neither has Zach Wilson.

Craig Carton went on a rant today about the Zach Wilson saga. He doesn’t want the Jets to worry about bringing in a seasoned veteran as a backup. He doesn’t think the Jets need a veteran QB in camp. He wants the Jets to sign Wilson and get him into camp now. I am in agreement that the Jets need to solve the negotiation with Wilson and get him into camp. I don’t agree with not signing a veteran back up. It would need to be clear from the beginning. Zach is the starter and the veteran is there to help bring him along.

Every day that Zach is not in camp is a day lost. He is expected to hit the ground running and him not being in training camp is not going to help that. So what is keeping him out of camp? There are two things being reported. Offsets and deferring some of the signing bonus into 2022. His signing bonus is $22.9 million, payable on signing his contract. Woody Johnson’s net worth is currently estimated at $4 Billion dollars. So tell me, why does he want to deny Zach his money. So Woody, pay Zach his signing bonus and give Saleh a chance to get off to a new start.
