It is important for the Jets to sign Marcus May who is ranked as the 4th best safety in the league by PFF. If he is not signed by July 15th he will play this season with a franchise tag meaning next year he will probably be playing for another team. I hope that Joe Douglas can come to an agreement. He was very impressive last year and was one of the bright spots for the jets.

A good safety is hard to find!

PFF ranked him as 4th highest at safety. The Jets may be hesitant as he is 28 years old. I say you can’t let Jamal Adams go and follow it with letting Marcus May go. The are good with the cap so I say spend some money on Marcus. He was one of the few bright spots on the Jets team last year.

Although he had only 2 interceptions he broke up several passes during the course of the season last year that  made highlight reels. Not signing Marcus May is a mistake. He signed the for the Franchise Tag. The last defensive player to receive the franchise tag for the Jets was defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson in 2016. Erik Burkhardt, May’s agent, was not happy and was very vocal about it.

It would almost appear the Jets are betting against themselves. If he has another good year his price will go up from the 10.5 million he is getting with the franchise tag.
