Chronic Stress Can Rob Us of Many Things

Our stress instinct can be helpful

All humans have a built-in stress instinct that is designed to help us out during times when facing a dangerous situation.

This reaction is often termed the “fight or flight” response, and it is what is responsible for somebody being able to lift up tons of weight when someone near them is suddenly crushed by a falling tree or other heavy item.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
“Hysterical strength is a display of extreme strength by humans, beyond what is believed to be normal, usually occurring when people are in life-and-death situations. The classic anecdotal example is of parents lifting vehicles to rescue their trapped children. The extra strength is commonly attributed to increased adrenaline production, though supporting evidence is scarce, and inconclusive when available. Research into the phenomenon is difficult, though it may be possible as adrenaline is known to affect muscle twitch and endurance.”

There is a dark side to this internal stress response that everyone should take into consideration.

Chronic Stress Steals Our Best Moments & Robs Us of Well-Being

Humans are not meant to handle stress on a regular and ongoing basis. There are many hormonal and body system changes that occur when the body senses it is in peril and begins the response process.

This will allow cortisol to be released into the bloodstream causing problems like poor mental focus, upset stomach, body pain and stiffness, extreme fatigue, insomnia and more.

Stressors Do Not Have to Be Bad for a Negative Impact on Health

This stress doesn’t even have to be bad stress. Working in overdrive planning a happy wedding or other special event can still cause the body to react in a negative manner if we do not manage this stress properly.

Manage Stress Better

Take control of your life stressors. Slow down and enjoy the smaller moments of life. Meditate, take up yoga or pray to release built-up tension. Exercise more, sleep better and eat healthier to be healthy and content. Exercise is very important for stress relief. Depending on age different types of exercise programs will have to be considered. Speak to your doctor and fine one that is right for you. You will be happy you did.
